Corporate Social Responsibility
The European Commission defines corporate social responsibility as companies’ responsibilities for their impact on society. A true corporate responsibility is only possible with the transition to a corporate sustainability strategy. In this sense, it is important for companies to prepare their corporate sustainability strategies and to carry out their corporate social responsibility activities in this direction.
Today, it is very important for companies to be sensitive institutions to the problems of the society they are in, and to see and show that they are not only sensitive but also an active social stakeholder in the solution of these problems. The private sector provides important opportunities in solving social problems with its human resources, information, technology, products and services. In addition to the services and products they produce, there are different social innovative companies that offer company resources and capabilities to meet social needs.
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an area where many projects have been carried out by companies in our country in recent years. Private companies, sometimes NGOs, sometimes together with public institutions, have started to do important social work by benefiting from the voluntary support of their own employees.
CSR Projects are now a part of corporate identity, and in some cases, one of the main determinants of corporate identity. However, it is imperative to evaluate CSR projects beyond their goals and impact. Because the meaning and function of CSR projects only increase when they become part of a bigger picture, a part of our corporate culture and working processes. Currently, when CSR is mentioned, the first thing that comes to mind is to make a project and announce it to the masses with the contribution of the communication agency. Despite everything, this is a work that has social benefits but cannot go beyond communication activities for institutions in the long run. The main thing in the field of CSR is to maximize the social, economic and environmental impact created, to reduce your negative costs in this area, if any, or even to zero them if possible.
